KinÊtre: A Novel Way To Bring Computer Animations To Life

KinÊtre is a research project from Microsoft Research Cambridge that allows novice users to scan physical objects and bring them to life in seconds by using their own bodies to animate them. This system has a multitude of potential uses for interactive storytelling, physical gaming, or more immersive communications.

How Kinect Spawned a Commercial Ecosystem



The New York Times has a great article about how the Microsoft Kinect is sparking a new commercial ecosystem

I love how Microsoft is portrayed as generously releasing such a revolutionary technology to the Open Source community for the greater good.  I can’t imagine reading an article about Apple written in a similar vein.

Here's a cool video showing people using the Kinect to make 3D holograms of themselves and talking about where this technology is leading us.
